Short-Selling and other changes

S

Although I work on StocksCafe every single day, I realize it’s been a while since my last update. Here is a quick update on recent developments:

1) Short-Selling
StocksCafe was originally created to serve my own needs, and as I personally do not short-sell, the ability to handle such transactions is not there. Not until recently, that is. Many users have requested for it, and I have adjusted things on the back-end so that you can now enter a sell transaction first before a buy transaction and still have all the numbers reflected accurately. Of course, while I have addressed all the concerns brought to my attention thus far, all of this is still relatively new. So, if you see any irregularities, please let me know!

2) Copy Transactions
Another new feature that might be of interest to some users is the ability to copy transactions. What this means is that if you make multiple similar transactions of the same stock, you can now click on the “copy” icon that is available in portfolio transactions to easily create multiple similar transactions.

3) “Faster” Loading
Recently, you might have felt that the portfolio report page is taking longer to load. Hence, I added more asynchronous loading and more caching to reduce the loading time. I also did something similar to stock summary page (e.g. D05) and a few others. If there are other pages that you feel are slow to load, do let me know and I will see what I can do.

If you are wondering, “Why are the pages loading slowly in the first place?” There are various reasons, but it is mainly because many of the pages in StocksCafe are dynamic pages (i.e. the content is unique to each user) hence they often need to be computed on the spot.

That’s all the updates I have for now. As always, feel free to reach out as I am still spending a lot of time building features to improve StocksCafe although I am less on the ball in sharing them.

Happy investing and stay safe!
