Dividends Collected is Back, and Better Than Before

D

These days, I have been preoccupied with making the switch to using properly licensed data from data I used to crawl from all over the internet. There are still some issues to iron out, but otherwise it is progressing quite well.

Due to the switch, I had to take down several features temporarily, and one of the features that went offline was “Dividends Collected”.

“Dividends Collected” essentially computes the dividends that you would have collected over the years based on your transaction records in SGXcafe. This is certainly one feature that many users loved as many have been inquiring as to when it will be back. I am happy to announce that it has been back up since a couple of days ago, and I have made it even better than before with the added ability of manual overriding.

As before, all dividends collected will be automatically computed. However, this might not be sufficient due to two reasons:
1) Some users might have chosen to purchase stocks instead of taking cash for some dividend payouts
2) As of now, SGXcafe does not handle retail bonds interest/dividends well

The above cases can be neatly and easily solved if the ability to manually override is given to you.

There are essentially two manual overrides available:
1) Deletion – You can choose to delete all auto-generated dividends from a given stockcode on a given ExDate.
2) Addition – You can choose to add as many dividends you want manually for any stockcode for any given ExDate.
Combining the above two options, I believe it can handle all possible cases. Let me know if it is insufficient for your use case.

However, in cases where you believe the issue is with erroneous or missing dividends, I would prefer that you do not use the manual override. Instead, please send me feedback as it would help other users across SGXcafe as well. Thanks!

The next thing I am working on is to bring back more fundamental data, as well as tools that run on them.

Happy investing!
