Slow-loading Pages
If you have been using StocksCafe for the last few days, you might have experienced extremely slow loading of some of the pages on desktop. I apologize for the poor experience. It is likely due to the auto-completion feature (suggesting stocks as you type) that is available on some pages such as this and this.
It is the combination of poor design of the auto-complete feature and the caching servers going down. Essentially, I was doing eager loading (i.e. load all possible stocks in anticipation). I have now switched to lazy loading (i.e. load matching stocks as you type). However, note that to minimize the number of matches, it will make suggestions only when there are three or more characters.
Many thanks to the user who reported this to me. Please continue to notify me whenever you see slow loading or other irregularities in StocksCafe.
Tracking StashAway
Robot advisors are becoming popular. There have been several private discussions on how to track robot advisors investments such as StashAway in StocksCafe. Therefore, I wrote a tutorial to share whatever I know at this point. However, as I do not personally use robot advisors, I would need your contributions to continue improving the tutorial.
Happy investing!
Thanks Evans for the improvements. I have noticed that after end of business, the server is heavily impacted as the updates are made. The report even take a longer time and only usually reliable after 8pm.
Don’t know if there is a better way to cache or disconnect these async processes from the main database.
Make sense. I will take another look at all the background processes that are running when market close and remove all non-critical processes.
Would you mind creating a ticket for that for track-ability?
