Import Options Transactions

I

Recently, a user requested the ability to import option transactions into StocksCafe. One of the main challenges of tracking options is the additional fields required compared to stock transactions, making the process more cumbersome and prone to errors.

At StocksCafe, we’re always striving to enhance your investment journey. Over the weekend, we dedicated time to building this feature. Since the user who made the request uses IBKR (Interactive Brokers), the format is currently tailored to IBKR’s data structure. However, we believe the implementation is generic enough to accommodate various formats.

If your preferred options brokerage uses a significantly different format, please share a sample export file with us. We’ll gladly explore the possibility of adding support for it.

Exporting from IBKR

1. Navigate to the Performance & Reports tab.
2. Select Statements.

3. Choose Activity as the statement type.
4. Select the desired time period.
5. Download the file in CSV format.

Preparing Your File for Import

After exporting your CSV file, use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to format it according to the requirements outlined on this page. Once formatted, save it as a Tab-Separated Values (TSV) file and import it into StocksCafe.

If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help!

Happy investing!

  • Hi Evan, This is very helpful, thank you for taking time to add this function.
Do you know if this works for rolling options? (i.e 1 transaction to close an existing order and 1 to open a new order)

    • I would assume that in the IBKR transactions, it would show as two separate transactions? One to close and one to open?
If not, you would have to show me a sample
