Analyze Your Portfolio with AI

A

Managing a portfolio is one thing; truly understanding its risks, biases, and opportunities is another. With the rise of Large Language Models (LLM) like Google Gemini and ChatGPT, it has opened a new door for investors: AI-Powered Portfolio Auditing.

I am happy to share that you can now easily export your portfolio into JSON file so that you can paste it (or upload it) directly into your favorite LLM (e.g. Gemini or ChatGPT) to help you with it. Have fun!~

How to Do It (Step-by-Step)

  1. Export from StocksCafe: Log in to StocksCafe on your desktop. Go to your Current Portfolio page and look for the “Export Current Portfolio as JSON”. Click it and a JSON file will be download.
  2. Go to your favorite AI: Open Gemini or ChatGPT.
  3. Attach and Prompt: Click the “plus” icon to upload the downloaded JSON file (or simply copy & paste the contents), then use one of the suggested prompts below. Please share with us if you have any better / interesting prompts.

Bonus: For those with options recorded in StocksCafe, you can go to the Options page and export both your stocks and options data for AI to analyze them together.

Note: Please note that your Custom Assets and Crypto are not included in the JSON export because with no standard tickers for those, it might cause confusion to AI.

Expert Prompts for AI Portfolio Analysis

To get the most out of the AI, you need to give it a “persona.” Copy and paste these prompts after uploading your file:

1. The “Risk Manager” Prompt (For Stress Testing)

“Act as a conservative risk manager at a top-tier hedge fund. Analyze the attached portfolio and identify the top 3 biggest vulnerabilities. Specifically, look for geographic concentration, sector over-exposure, and interest rate sensitivity. Suggest three specific defensive moves to protect this portfolio against a 10% market correction.”

2. The “Income Seeker” Prompt (For Dividend Growth)

“Analyze my portfolio with a focus on dividend sustainability and growth. Identify any ‘yield traps’ (stocks with high yields but poor fundamentals) and suggest 3 companies in sectors I don’t currently own that would improve my monthly dividend consistency.”

3. The “Portfolio Architect” Prompt (For Diversification)

“Here is my current portfolio. Using a ‘Core and Satellite’ investment strategy, evaluate my current holdings. Am I too heavy in speculative ‘satellites’? Suggest how I should rebalance to ensure I have a strong stable core while maintaining some high-growth potential.”

4. The “Blindspot” Prompt (For Hidden Biases)

“Review my holdings and tell me what is MISSING. Based on current 2026 market trends (like AI infrastructure, green energy, or emerging markets), which major growth themes am I currently ignoring? Provide a list of tickers that would fill these gaps.”
