Watchlist Improvements and More

W

Just wanted to share what’s going on behind the scenes at StocksCafe lately.

1) More Stable
I am happy to share that since the infrastructure improvements (to two web servers) a month ago, there have been no known downtime (no complains from users and no logs suggesting that) for StocksCafe website. Once in a while, one server would go down but the second server would keep StocksCafe running.

2) Faster
Overall, P99* has also dropped significantly. From 7-10 seconds to 2-4 seconds. (*P99@2seconds means that 99% of StocksCafe pages take 2 seconds or lesser to load)

3) Watchlist Improvements
Over the weekend, I have enabled “persistent” as an option for watchlist alerts. This means that users can keep alerts to be always on (even after being triggered).

In addition, Friends of StocksCafe can also update preferences here (i.e. check ” Watchlist Alerts”) to receive a separate email for every watchlist alert triggered.

What’s Next?
Every now and then, I would receive requests to support more asset classes (e.g. bonds) or more stock exchanges (e.g. London, Australia). While I would want StocksCafe to fully support all stocks exchanges and all possible assets, it would be very costly both in terms of time and money.

A more plausible short term solution would be the ability to enable users to define and add any assets (or liability) into StocksCafe manually including transactions, their current value and upcoming payments etc. I aim to release this feature within the next 2-3 weeks.

Of course, in the long run, I plan to continue to add more support to different stock exchanges and asset classes wherever costs permit.

Happy investing!
