A little more than a year ago, I added a feature that projects how much dividends you are likely to receive for the current year in your Portfolio Report. Although it is a simple feature with naive assumptions, it is actually one of the top most-liked features.
Hence, upon the request of Friends of StocksCafe, I spent some time over the weekend to include dividend projection in more areas of StocksCafe.
1) All Projected Dividends – List of all stocks with projected dividends.
2) Individual Stock – You can see it in both Stock Dividend Summary and Stock Dividend Details.
3) Portfolio Projected Dividends – List of all projected dividends that are in your portfolio.
4) Watchlist Projected Dividends – List of all projected dividends that are in your watchlist.
I would like to state the naive assumptions for dividends projection again: “Stocks will give the same amount of dividends, on the same ExDate, as the previous year”.
As mentioned before, although these assumptions are unlikely to be always true, it is a quick and easy way to give a rough estimate of how much dividends a stock will distribute for the year. Of course, I am all ears if you have ideas on how to improve the projection accuracy.
Hope you enjoy this “new” feature.
Happy investing!
Nice! Thanks Evan!
Thanks.
Scrip Dividend. Would like to suggest a button in the “Dividend Collection” to convert the scrip dividend into a transaction with $0 cost and remove it from the “Dividend Collection”. Otherwise, user needs to do 2x actions (add scrip dividend manually and remove the collected dividend) and the P&L + Dividend maybe overstated.
Thanks.
I wonder if this is similar to what you need?

I’m afraid it’s not what I meant.

Please refer to the FAQ: How should I account for scrip dividends, bonus shares, rights issues, etc?
You can simply enter a buy transaction at price SGD 0 and maybe add a note to yourself for clarity.
Although StocksCafe will give you a warning by visually highlighting the price in red, it is fine to ignore it. It is there just in case you have made a mistake in entering the price.
Also, you should remove the dividend collected from here using the remove link to prevent double counting.

What I suggested was to replace the “Remove” with something like “Convert to Scrip Dividend” or “Scrip Dividend”. This action will add $0 cost transaction (user to input the number of unit or auto-calculated) and remove the dividend collected.
I see. Okie. I added this feature request. Thanks!
