Recurring Transactions Just Got Better

R

Since we released the ability to create recurring transactions, several users have reached out independently with a common request:

They often know only the total amount they will pay, but not the price per share or number of shares, which are only known at a future date.

To support this use case, we’ve updated how recurring transactions work.
(Note: recurring dividends remain unchanged.)

(New) How to create recurring transactions

You can easily create multiple recurring transactions at once on the desktop version of StocksCafe via this page. This is especially useful when you have transactions that are identical except for the date.

Alongside the standard fields, you’ll now see two new ones:
End Date: Select any valid date after the Start Date.
Frequency: Choose from Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual, or Annual.

Example:
If you set up a recurring transaction for SGX:D05, with:

  • Start Date: 1 Jan 2025
  • End Date: 30 Apr 2025
  • Frequency: Quarterly

StocksCafe will create four transactions on:
2 Jan 2025 (1 Jan is a public holiday in Singapore)
3 Feb 2025 (1 & 2 Feb fall on the weekend)
3 Mar 2025 (1 & 2 Mar fall on the weekend)
1 Apr 2025

Dates are automatically adjusted to skip weekends and known non-trading days, while staying as close as possible to your selected frequency.

Many fields such as shares, price, and fees are optional at the time of creation. You can fill them in later when the transaction is finalized.

When you click “Add Recurring”, the transactions will appear in Pending Transactions.

Once the scheduled date arrives, a ➕ icon will appear next to the transaction, allowing you to complete it easily. Most fields will be pre-filled, making it as simple as confirming a regular transaction.

We hope this updated feature makes it easier to manage your recurring transactions in StocksCafe.
As always, we welcome your feedback on how we can better support your investing journey!
