Over the weekend, I have successfully migrated everything to the new domain, stocks.cafe, with upgraded software and hardware.

However, the migration over the weekend did not proceed as smooth as I had hoped. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. On hindsight, I should not have tried to upgrade everything at the same time. There were numerous bugs and errors that I had to fix throughout the weekend. I apologize if you tried to use StocksCafe and had a bad experience during that time.

Even till now, there are still a few known issues. Rest assured that I will fix them one way or another.

Slow Response – You might have noticed that StocksCafe is slower than before, and you are right. Previously, 95% of the requests take less than 0.5 seconds but now they are taking more than 4 seconds. I do have a few suspects and several ideas on how to fix them. Fast response time is certainly one of my top priorities.

Missing Emails – Many of you might not have received your daily market update emails. There are two possible reasons:
1. Landing in the spam folder
As the email address has changed from support@stocks.cafe to support@stocks.cafe, please whitelist this new email address/domain so that the emails will not go into your spam folder.

2. Blacklisted by some email servers
Another reason could be because some email servers such as microsoft.com and spamrl.com have blacklisted me as a spammer. I believe the reason is due to some poor configuration on my part. If you don’t see the email even in your spam folder, consider adding a secondary email address so that you can continue to receive daily updates in the meantime as I work on resolving this blacklist status.

Login Errors – I have received reports of users not being able to login and not receiving any reset password emails. If this is also happening to you, please do not hesitate to email me (admin@stocks.cafe), I will manually reset your password for you.

Please continue to report any errors/bugs you see.

Despite all these issues, I do not regret migrating (although I should not have done them all at the same time) because I believe this is a necessary step as StocksCafe prepares itself for the global expansion. I appreciate your patience during this transition period!

    Is it possible for users to export transaction data from stockscafe to excel for backup purpose?

  • Hi Evan, website response improved a lot today. Email is still going to spam box. I have created a filter to sort it out. Its fine now.

  • @Mithuprem, thanks for your patience. I have further upgraded the hardware and made some configuration changes. I still have a few ideas on how to continue making it faster (hope I do not instead make it slower. Ha..)

  • Yup. Yahoo blocked me because of my bad config previously. I already fixed that. You should receive the email today (I hope). Alternatively, you can add a secondary emails if you have any (gmail is fine with me so far).

    I apologize for that. Due to the slowness caused by the recent migration, portfolio report for basic users have not been able to update for the last few days. However, I have already fixed the issue by further upgrading the hardwares. You should be able to see your portfolio report updated a few hours later (Yes, updating portfolio report is actually very computationally expensive and it takes several hours to do so for several thousands of users.)

    Please let me know again if you still do not see that happen say tomorrow morning.

    Good Effort! On my end, the daily closing update on my portfolio was not updated in my email at 6:05 pm. No rush on this issue. Just reporting a possible wrinkle on your upgrade process.

    Thank you for taking time to report. I am not exactly sure what you meant. Did you mean you receive the “StocksCafe Market Updates – 17 Apr 2017” email with something not updated?

    Please tell me more so that I can better investigate 🙂

    I mean normally, my email would receive the update on my portfolio automatically at around 6:05 pm daily. Now I don’t.

    I see. So, do you mean you receive the email later or you do not receive them at all now? Did you check your spam? It can be in the spam as I have changed domain from sgxcafe.com to stocks.cafe.
